In yesterday’s 6-2 win over Italy, David Wright hit a go-ahead grand slam in the United States second game to improve their record to 1-1. The United States was in trouble after losing their first game Friday Night to Mexico. Wright looks locked in and ready for the season but right now, he is just focusing on helping the United States in the WBC. “It’s emotional,” Wright said. “You hear the ‘USA’ chants, you look up in the stands and you see the flags, you look in the dugout and you see ‘USA’ across the front of guys’ chests and across their hats, and you get caught up in the game and you get a little emotional.” Wright said. The United States will play Canada tomorrow afternoon in a winner take all game in order to punch the last ticket to the second round.

Steve – Thanks for the story. It is a boost to Mets fans that DW’s GS won the game for the USA. David’s sound bites are always on target just like Mike Piazza when he wore the orange and blue. I hope David gets off to a great start in 2013 like he did in 2012. Mets fans need something to cheer about and hopefully David can get the job done.

Wel David is red hot right now with at least one hit in all three games hes been in. Hopefully he can save some of those for April!
