Every year well-respected scout and writer, Keith Law of ESPN.com does a farm system ranking. Law bumped the Mets all the way up to 14th. “The R.A. Dickey trade really boosted their system, and several Latin American arms had strong years in 2012 to bolster the system’s total value. First-rounder Gavin Cecchini could move quickly for a prep kid, as he’s pretty advanced for a teenager and doesn’t have much blocking him at shortstop.” says Law on the farm system.

The piece is an insider only but you can see a little preview here at ESPNNY.com. Believe it or not the Mets now have the best farm system in the division. Law ranks the Marlins 16th, Braves 20th, Nationals 21st and the Phillies 27th. The farm system has grown a lot but the Mets have to keep reloading it after young prospects like Zack Wheeler and Travis d’Arnaud make their major league debuts this year.
