According to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports the Mets are close to a deal with Brandon Lyon. Lyon, 33, pitched to a 3.10 ERA, 9.3 K/9, and 3.0 BB/9 in 67 games for the Astros and Blue Jays last year. Lyon has been solid throughout his career mostly as a set-up man. Lyon will probably come to spring training with the intention of competing for the closers role with Frank Francisco and Bobby Parnell. Sandy Alderson has said he is not comfortable with Francisco as his closer but Lyon is more of a middle relief/ set-up man type.

This move probably signifies the last move the Mets make for their bullpen. This group is definitely deeper than it was at this time a year ago but they still needs young arms to step up for this to be an above average bullpen.
